Mulmur Montessori Outdoor Centre incorporates your school's curriculum into our programming. We offer programs such as Leaves and Trees, Animal Homes, Adaptation and Pond Study. We also offer activities such as Team Building, Art in the Wild and Orienteering. You can enjoy one of our programs or have us customize them to meet the needs of your group!
We operate throughout the school year offering 2 night/3 day visits or 4 night/5 day visits. Whatever the season, we offer a number of activities that allow the children to fully explore the land.
Fall
What a great way to begin a new school year! Have a staff weekend or, welcome the new students and the reuturning ones with a trip to MMOC.
Fall Programs:
- Our Team Building program is an excellent "ice breaker" for the staff and students. This program focuses on skills such as communication, leadership and cooperation.
Animal Homes and Animal Tracking is great at this time of year, The children are able to see hints of the animals getting ready for winter.
- The Leaves & Trees program is excellent in the Fall & Spring. In the Fall, children will learn to identify the trees by their bark & leaves.
- Adaptation is at it's best during the Fall and Winter. Children will see how animals adapt not only to the environment but, the changing seasons too.
Art in the Wild is a great way to use nature to create a masterpiece. This program is perfect for the Fall & Spring seasons.
- Our Camping Skills program is perfect for all seasons. The children will learn various skills such as fire building, shelter building and knot tying. This is great for the beginner or the experienced camper.
- Orienteering is a wonderful way for children to work together and develop their sense of direction and communication. This program is perfect for all seasons!
Our legends program is an excellent way to introduce children to story telling. This program allows the children to use their imagination and creativity while connecting with the land and its history.
Winter:
Our Winter programs are a great way for children to have a break from the classroom. Get rid of the "February Blahs" by enjoying some time outdoors.
Winter Programs:
Instincts for survival is an excellent way for children to gain experience with surviving the cold outdoors. Children can also test their skills with snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Team building is always a favorite any time of the year. How about trying it in the snow? Animal tracking is at its best during the winter. Children will see and identify an abundance of different animal tracks.
Spring:
The Spring is a wonderful way to begin closure to the school year. It is especially important for the children that have been together for 3 years.
Enjoy watching the forests come to life with the leaves & trees program.
Spring Programs:
Another amazing experience is seeing and identifying the new life in our pond study or insect program. Our soil program is perfect to do during the Spring due to the lack of leaves on the trees and ground. Learn how erosion effects the trees and the land around them.
Our team building, orienteering legends and art in the wild programs are very popular no matter what time of year you visit. Fall, Winter or Spring, MMOC is a great way for your students and staff to appreciate and explore nature at its best.
In the Spring, children will enjoy seeing the "new life" on the trees and within them.
